Submission Guidelines

Everything you need to prepare and submit your manuscript to the Singapore Research Journal.

Content types

The Singapore Research Journal currently supports two content types: Original Articles and Reviews.

Original Articles

Original articles should report experimentations carried out by authors, producing substantial and original results. Conclusions must be supported by experimental evidence rather than theoretical guesswork.

Reviews

Reviews provide an overview of existing research in a specific field. They should include sufficient analysis, identifying problems, advancements, advantages, and future directions.

Manuscript Outline

Your initial submission need not adhere to strict formats, so long as all information required to evaluate and understand your manuscript is provided. The main text is recommended to be between 4–8 pages. For first-time authors, consider the following sections for completeness:

Recommended sections

  • Title Page
  • Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References
  • Acknowledgements

All submissions must include

  • Title page containing the title of your manuscript and the names and schools of all authors and co‑authors (if applicable).
  • Abstract (< 250 words) outlining the research topic, novelty, and value of the work, with a short description of the key findings.
  • Introduction that orients readers to your topic, including current research directions and gaps.
  • Methods & Results with a clearly defined methodology that allows replication, and a detailed analysis of the results obtained.

Document types

We accept initial submissions in PDF or Word. If you are using TeX/LaTeX, please submit compiled PDFs. For accepted papers, we require PDF submissions to be resubmitted in an editable format for reformatting by our team (Word/TeX/LaTeX).

Word/PDF

  • We accept all standard fonts.

TeX/LaTeX

  • We accept all standard class files in default Computer Modern fonts.

Figures & Tables

  • Ensure that all figures have a minimum resolution of 300 pixels per inch.
  • If images are altered in any way (e.g., removal of lanes from gel images, brightness adjustments), clearly state the alterations in the figure legends (and methods if applicable).
  • Do not hide or remove any background in microscopy or gel images.
  • Graphs and tables with quantitative data are recommended to display the mean ± error.
  • All figures and tables must be cited in the main text and include descriptive titles.

References

All references should follow APA 7 and be organised in alphabetical order. Use the author–date convention for in‑text citations (e.g., Lee et al., 1989). For first‑time authors, we recommend using citation generators like MyBib for assistance.
